About Charbel Eltarraf

Charbel Eltarraf is an Australian entrepreneur, writer, and advocate for principled leadership in public life. His work spans business, philanthropy, and cultural renewal, united by a belief that enduring institutions are built on truth, discipline, and moral clarity.

Early Life and Formation

Raised in a Lebanese-Australian Catholic family, Charbel was educated in Roman Catholic schools that cultivated a lifelong respect for faith, reason, and service. Experiencing both privilege and hardship from an early age shaped his conviction that leadership must be grounded in justice rather than status. At 17, he enlisted in the Australian Army Reserve, serving in the Infantry 4/3 RNSWR Division, where he developed a lasting regard for order, responsibility, and the virtue of service.

Professional Work

As co-founder and Managing Director of several companies — Tile Touch, Touch Surfaces, Kazoku Tiles, and related design ventures— Charbel has built a reputation for elevating craftsmanship and integrity in Australia’s architectural and interiors sector. He approaches business as a form of stewardship, seeking excellence that serves people and culture alike.

Philanthropy and Public Service

Charbel's commitment to the common good extends to his leadership within Somascan Missions and other charitable projects supporting education, housing, rehabilitation and humanitarian development across India, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, and Australia. As Treasurer and board member, he has overseen large-scale charitable investments with financial accountability and transparency.

Civic Engagement and Thought Leadership

Charbel is an active participant in multi-faith dialogue forums, government-hosted advisory sessions, and international think-tank initiatives that explore ethics, social cohesion, and institutional reform. His involvement in such settings reflects a growing engagement with the intersection of faith, culture, and policy.

Writing and Philosophy

Charbel is not an academic and does not claim his writings to be of academic calibre. His essays are written through unorthodox methods — shaped by independent study, lived experience, and sustained reflection rather than formal training. Despite that, his work reflects a deep engagement with philosophy, theology, and public ethics, influenced strongly by Thomas Aquinas and classical realism. He writes to clarify thought, not to impress peers.

Vision

Charbel's overarching aim is to renew culture through the restoration of moral and institutional integrity — bridging faith with reason, business with ethics, and leadership with service to the common good.
